Woman tests positive for swine flu in Punjab

A 55-year-old woman was tested positive for swine flu today and has been admitted in a hospital due to her critical condition, doctors here said.

Sarbjit Kaur, who is a resident of Sandhu Colony Batala road, was first detected with swine flu in a government hospital where she was already admitted due to high fever, cough, running nose, soar throat and severe body aches including headache and fatigue, Dr H P Singh of Escorts Fortis Hospitals said.

Later, Kaur's nasal and throat swabs were sent to Chandigarh and she tested positive for swine flu. She was then admitted to the Escorts Fortis Hospitals, Singh said.
 

He also claims that this is the first case which has tested positive for swine flu in the region.

The patient has been kept in isolation, in the critical care unit of the hospital where visitors are strictly restricted, Singh added.
