A 35-year-old woman, who was allegedly part of a gang which tried to extort Rs 80 lakh from a bank officer by blackmailing him on the basis of an obscene CD, has been arrested by police here.

The woman, identified only as Swati, had befriended the 55-year-old bank officer some months ago, said Dilip Soni, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch), today.

Later, she introduced him to another girl. Some days ago, Swati took the officer to a rented place in Bhanwarkuna area, where he was shot by a spy camera, allegedly in a compromising position with the other girl, Soni said.

The gang, for which both the girls worked, made a CD of the alleged act and sent it to to the officer from whom it demanded Rs 80 lakh. The gang warned that if he did not shell out the money, the CD would be sent to his wife, Soni said.

Swati was produced before a local court, which sent her in custody for five days.

Police are looking for other members of the gang.
