A woman and her two children sustained injuries when a portion of the ceiling of their house collapsed on them while they were asleep in the early hours of today in Pannimadai on the outskirts.
Since the area was experiencing rains for the last three days, the concrete ceiling, which was already in dilapidated condition, was totally wet, police said.
A portion of the ceiling came down on the 26-year old Tulasimani, Kanishka (3) and Rakshana (2), who were sleeping around 3 AM, they said.
Hearing cries from inside the house, some neighbours rushed and rescued the trio and taken to Government hospital here.
