A 47-year-old woman and her dog were today attacked by her neighbour's four famished pitbulls while she was entering her house in southern Thailand.

Suwin Boonthiam suffered cuts on her abdomen, neck, face, head and right thigh and is recovering in a hospital. However her dog died, The Nation reported.

The dogs, raised by her policeman neighbour, mauled the woman's dog to death in the house's compound in Prachuap Khirikhan.

The dogs had climbed over the fence and attacked Suwin while she was walking into her house with a niece.

The victim said her brother-in-law helped her free from the dogs and she ran inside the house before rescue officials of a foundation came to take her to the hospital.

The dogs were not fed since wednesday after their owner was admitted to a hospital, Suwin told police.
