When it comes to posting a selfie on Facebook or Instagram, sixth time is the charm!

Women will hit the delete button five times before settling on a selfie which is good enough to post online, according to a new UK survey.

The OnePoll survey also found that just getting their photograph clicked made 64 per cent of women feel anxious.

Researchers spoke to 2,000 women, 2,000 men and 1,000 children aged eight to 17, 'Irish Independent' reported.

They found that looking at pictures on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter made 41 per cent of women and 26 per cent of men feel bad about themselves.

Of the children who were also questioned, which included 58 per cent who took selfies, 79 per cent said they were happy with the way they looked.

As many as 67 per cent thought they needed to look good, the survey found.

The study was commissioned by the ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain.
