BJP spokesperson Shaina NC today said that for women there are more challenges in politics as compared to men and highlighted the need of education and economic independence in their empowerment.
"For women, the arena of politics is all the more difficult and has many highs and lows," she said, adding that "nevertheless, a woman politician must always keep the end-objective of making a difference."
The BJP leader said that politics is essentially about making a difference in the lives of the people and bringing about a change in the society.
Shaina was speaking at the session "Women on the Move - Breaking Barriers" organised by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) here today.
"It is of utmost importance for women to be educated and economically independent. They will then be looked up to with respect and esteem," a release quoting her said.
