Senior BJP MP from Chhattisgarh Ramesh Bais today expressed satisfaction over the constitution of the new team by party president Rajnath Singh, saying women leaders from the state are "adequately" represented in the National Executive Committee.

"Earlier, Karuna Shukla was national vice-president and before that Sarla Maheshwari was there. Any woman leader was to be given responsibility and this time Saroj Pandey has got it," Bais told reporters here.

He was responding to a query on Durg MP Saroj Pandey being made the new president of BJP Mahila Morcha.

"Karuna Shukla held key posts at national level and even earlier Saroj Pandey was the national secretary. The women from Chhattisgarh are given adequate representation (in national executive council)," he said.

On being asked about senior leaders from Chhattisgarh going unrepresented, Bais evaded direct reply, saying "may be we are not eligible".
