Women never wear three out of four pairs of shoes they own, a new UK survey has found.
The average woman owns 20 pairs of shoes, but some are never worn because they are uncomfortable or don't match an outfit. Some shoes are discarded as they are unwanted gifts.
A surprising 41 per cent women said they owned expensive shoes which they never wore to keep them from getting damaged.

Researchers estimated that even at the cheaper end, at a cost of 24 pounds a pair, a woman's typical footwear collection would be worth 480 pounds.
"I was surprised to see how many women openly admitted to having wasted money on footwear, especially considering the cumulative cost of their shoe collection," said George Charles, of VoucherCodesPro.Co.Uk, which conducted the survey.
The most common reason women gave for why they didn't wear new shoes was because they turned out to be too high or too tight.
Twenty per cent didn't like them when they got them home.
