Members of some women organisations Sunday staged a dharna in front of the residence of a retired judge, against whom a dowry harassment case has been registered on a complaint by his daughter-in-law, and demanded his arrest.
Holding placards which read "we want justice" and "hand over the children to your daughter-in-law," they demanded that the retired judge and his kin be arrested.
The complainant, who was also took part in the protest, said she wanted to see her children, one of whom was three-and-half-year-old and another 18-month old.
A case was registered against the retired high court judge, his wife and son on a complaint by his daughter-in-law of cruelty towards her, police had said.
The case has been registered under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and relevant sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act, they had said.
