'Women Panch leaders should use their rights to bring change'

Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva today asked the women Panchayat leaders to be well aware of their rights and use them not only for development but also to bring creative change in the lives of women.

Addressing the Women Panch-Sarpanch conference here, Alva asked the village leaders to make efforts to bring about social changes.

"The women should rise above the petty issues of caste, religion and language and unite for the social prosperity... Deliberate over the impediments that obstruct the development and play an active role in overcoming them," Alva said in the conference participated by over 300 women Panchayat leaders.
 

The Governor emphasised the need to take measures for the expansion of education, medical and health facilities, electricity and water supply in the villages in order to ensure the development of the rural areas.

She said the participation and contribution of women towards development would help ensure the welfare of the society.

Addressing the gathering, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said a decision has been taken to open primary schools in every revenue village and secondary schools at every panchayat level.
