Women recurve team in final at Archery World Cup

There was a ray of hope in the women's compound section where India made the bronze medal play-off after going down to Italy in the semifinals.

According to information received here, the recurve team, seeded second, with an accumulative qualifying score of 1965 points thrashed Ukraine (Kateryna Palekha, Lidiia Sichenikova and Juliia Zakharchenko) 221-213 en route to the final.

Earlier in the quarters, the trio defeated their Polish opponents 224-216.

In the gold medal clash tomorrow, India will take on heavyweights Korea who got the better of China 225-217 in the other semis.

In the mixed recurve event, the duo of Deepika and Rai made a last-eight exit, going down to the mighty USA 140-148.

 

In the compound section, Gagandeep Kaur, Parveena and Jyothi Surekha lost to their Italian counterparts 225-232 in the semis. In the playoff, India will face the challenge from Italy on Sunday.

The fancied men's recurve team of Tarundeep Rai, Jayanta Talukdar and Rahul Banerjee continued to disappoint.

Seeded fourth, the trio lost to USA (Brady Ellison, Joe Fanchin and Jacob Wukie) in the quarters 221-225. USA went on to set up a final clash against France.

In the men's compound section India lost to Venezuela 229-234 for a first round exit.
