Women to lodge complaints online in UP

In an initiative to empower women, Uttar Pradesh government today launched a service which enables them to lodge complaints of crime online.

The facility has been made available in "crime against women" section in state police website uppolice.Gov.In, Principal Secretary (Home) Anil Kumar Gupta told reporters here today while announcing the launch of the service.

This is for the first time such service has been started to empower women, who face problems or hesitate in going to police stations, Gupta said.

The victim could upload photograph or video in support of her complaint and could also track its progress after loging and entering password, which would be sent to the complainant's mobile, he said.
