Union Minister Birender Singh today he will not allow anybody even in his own party to harm the bhaichara (brotherhood) in Haryana while asserting that bhaichara was essential for the overall development of the state.

Birender, a prominent Jat leader also sought support of BJP Chief Amit Shah in the "fight for rights", apparently referring to demand of Jat community, seeking reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.

Birender was addressing the 'Gaurav rally' here which was organised by him.

"In last few months, brotherhood in the state was hit. It has been the culture of 2.5 crore population of Haryana to promote Bhaichara (brotherhood).

"Although political leader or political party may have wanted to hurt the brotherhood, if anybody tries to cause any harm to state brotherhood, Birender will take a flag of BJP and will fight alone. I won't care and will not allow anybody to disturb peace, even as some people may be in our party who keep ill-intention to hurt brotherhood," the Union Steel minister said.

"Without 'bhaichara', Haryana cannot grow," he asserted.

Singh noted that nobody in village or Mohalla wanted to uproot brotherhood. "You will not find a single man who has nothing to do with brotherhood. We are together (on this issue)," he said.

Haryana had seen violence during Jat agitation in the month of February in several parts including Rohtak, Jhajjar, Jind which left 30 people dead and several other injured.

Jat leaders had then criticized BJP MP Raj Kumar Saini for hit utterances against Jat reservation.

Birender also sought support of BJP Chief in the "fight for rights". "All fight for rights. If you (Shah) have in your mind that fight for rights should be such in which one gets rights without hurting the others, we want such a system. We want your support in our fight for rights in which any specific class is fighting and with that fight, others (rights) are not hurt," he said.

Haryana government had given 10 per cent quota to Jats and five other castes in government jobs and educational institutions in the state by creating Backward Class 'C' category following protests in February this year.

However, the quota was stayed in May this year by Punjab and Haryana High Court after a petition was filed challenging the reservation.

Birender who is a Rajya Sabha MP also demanded from BJP Chief Amit Shah to ensure development of 25 constituencies which had lagged behind because of political apathy over the past several years.

"I want there are 25 Vidhan Sabha seats which are called middle Haryana. Among them are Hisar, Rohtak, Kalanaur, Meham, Narnaund, Tohana, Ratia, Uchana, Jind, Kalayat and these should be developed on par with other areas of the state," he said.

"I want that in 25 'halkas', you give notice to Haryana government to develop on par with other areas," he demanded.

Birender further that the state was infamous for its politics, despite the fact that the state had contributed a lot in food grain production, sending people to the army and bringing laurels in sports arena.

"I recently went to England where one person asked me which state do you belong. I said I am from Haryana. He said the state where is Aya Ram Gya Ram," he said.

"Our daughter (in Haryana) who won medal in Rio Olympic games when the whole country was eagerly waiting for winning a medal for 11 days," he said.

Union Minister of Steel thanked the Prime Minister and Shah for reposing faith and inducting him as Cabinet Minister in the Central Government.

He said he was the first person from Haryana to have been inducted as Minister in the Union Cabinet despite not having had the status of Chief Minster. The people of Jind would repay with interest what the BJP has given to Jind, he said.

With a view to translating into reality the vision of the Prime Minister to double the farmers' income in the coming five years, he had ensured release of Rs 40 lakh crore to the villages. This would help in opening avenues and opportunities of development in the rural sector.

Haryana's farmers had contributed 21 per cent food grains to the central kitty and every 10th soldier and every 5th martyr hails from Haryana. The state has a big name in industry. When the country was waiting for medal in Rio, it was Haryana's girl who brought laurels for the nation at international level, he added.
