In the backdrop of allegations that he utilised funds meant for shelter homes to serve food to his guests, Maharashtra Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole today said he will not reside in the official house allotted to him till he is proved innocent.

"I am used to staying in dilapidated homes. I have not joined politics to live in a bungalow and lead a lavish lifestyle. I have joined politics to serve the backward community so that they too can be a part of the country's development. I will not live in the official bungalow allotted to me until I am proved innocent," Badole told reporters here.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik had recently accused Badole of utilising funds meant for shelter homes "to serve food to his guests" and that he is not bothered about people dying of hunger in his constituency.

"A person died of hunger in Badole's home constituency of Tiroda in the Vidarbha region, but the minister is not bothered about it. Instead of eradicating hunger, he is busy utilising funds meant for shelter homes to serve food to his guests," Malik had alleged.
