"Work in the oil refinery has been affected since yesterday causing a loss of over Rs five crore per day," a senior company official said here.
Director-General of CISF A K Ray had arrived in the port town in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha to inquire into the incident, Sangram Mishra, DGM, HR, of the plant said.
Yesterday CISF personnel opened fire to prevent labourers from entering the oil refinery without valid passes that left seven persons injured.
To protest against the firing, members of five trade unions today shouted slogans and blocked the main gate. As a result no one was able to enter the plant, the police said.
Inspector-General of Police Arun Roy, who visited the spot, said two FIRs had been lodged separately by the CISF and labourers in Bijayachandrapur police station.
"An inquiry is on to ascertain how the incident happened and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty," Roy said.
Expenses for treatment of the injured, who were convalesing in the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack and the government hospital here, would be borne by the district RED Cross society, he said.
Around 250 armed policemen had been deployed in the area as a preventive measure while 400 CISF were keeping vigil on the oil refinery, the police said.
