"The work on the Khankah at the famous Shrine in Chrar-e- Sharief is in full swing and is expected to be fully completed by July next year," Budgam District Development Commissioner Khurshid Ahmad Shah, who visited the shrine to inspect the ongoing work, said.
Shah said the ambitious complex will be a blend of traditional and modern architecture.
A spacious 'Hamam' for providing ablution facilities to the pilgrims especially during winter months would also be constructed, he said.
Khankah is a building designed for gatherings, spiritual retreat and character reformation.
The District Development Commissioner instructed the engineers to complete the remaining works on 'Khankah' so that pilgrims visiting the revered mausoleum of Noorani do not face any inconvenience.
He also asked the engineers of Roads and Buildings to complete ongoing work on Nagam-Chrar-i-Sharief and Chrar-i- Sharief-Yusmarg-Pakherpora roads as it was imperative for boosting pilgrim tourism in the area.
Chrar-e-Sharief town including the famous shrine was razed to the ground by a major blaze following an encounter between militants and security forces in May 1995.
