Work-from-home preferred option for most

Work-from-home is a preferred option for most employees, as a majority of candidates said that they would favour companies that offered the facility over those that didnot, says a survey.

According to a survey by job portal Wisdomjobs.Com, 70 per cent of the women surveyed said the option play a key role in deciding if they would join the company or not.

Moreover, 40 per cent of male participants also said considering all other things remain the same, they would choose a workplace that allowed work-from-home over one that had rigid office hours.

Vikram Solar commissioned rooftop plant at Calicut airport * Solar energy solution provider Vikram Solar today said that it has commissioned a rooftop solar plant with 750 kWp capacity at Calicut International Airport.
 

The project was implemented under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy scheme for setting of grid connected solar rooftop project under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), the company said in a press release

This is Vikram Solar's third such rooftop installation at an International Airport in India, after the 100 kWp installation at Cochin International Airport in Kerala itself.

The company has also installed a rooftop solar plant with a total 2 MWp capacity at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at Kolkata. It is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by around 2,037 Mt each year.

Sobha launches its 1st commercial project in Kerala * Realty firm Sobha Limited today announced the launch of its first commercial project 'Sobha City Mall' at Puzhakkal in Thrissur, Kerala.

Situated at the heart of 'Sobha City'- the first and the largest integrated township in the State, 'Sobha City Mall' will offer best-in-class retail and entertainment experience for the customers, the company said in a release.

It said sprawled over five acres, 'Sobha City Mall' has a built up area of approximately 4,50,000 sq ft, comprising three floors of shopping space along with a basement for car parking.
SLCM ties up with Myanma Apex Bank for collateral finance

* Agri-logistic firm Sohan Lal Commodity Management (SLCM) has tied up with with Myanma Apex Bank for collateral financing in Myanmar.

The group has presence in Myanmar through its wholly- owned subsidiary and provides warehouse management and collateral management services.

The step is aimed at strengthening the network for providing collateral management solutions to processors, traders, exporters, farmers & importers across Myanmar, the company said in a statement.

Amazon launches online Marathi book store * E-commerce giant Amazon today launched a dedicated online Marathi book store with a selection of over 5,500 titles.

"The online store offers Marathi books from a wide range of collection including classics, literature, fiction, biographies, business and finance, self-help, cook books and children's books from leading publishers and bestselling books," the company said in a statement.

The store has a collection from authors like P L Deshpande, V S Khandekar, V P Kale, Shivaji Sawant, Vishwas Patil, Ranjit Desai, Kusumagraj, Ratnakar Matkari, among others.

Inox Wind enters into strategic tie-up with AMSC * Wind power solutions provider Inox Wind today said it has signed various agreements with AMSC to manufacture 2 MW electronic control systems (ECS) in India and to collaborate on the development of a 3 MW turbine for the country.

"Inox Wind signed an agreement that secures the company perpetual and exclusive rights from its technology partner AMSC to manufacture 2 MW ECS in India. In the other agreement with AMSC, both the firms will collaborate on the development of a 3 MW turbine for the country," the company said in a statement.
Ad regulator ASCI receives 1K complaints

Advertising regulator ASCI today said that it has received over 1,000 complaints till date from the consumers from the web portal web portal www.Gama.Gov.In launched last year.

To tackle the misleading ads, the Department of Consumer Affairs had launched Grievances Against Misleading Advertisements (GAMA) and had appointed the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) to monitor web portal.

The portal received complaints against ads of products and services from almost all sectors as telecom, banking, consumer durables along with e-commerce for ads on TV, Print, Web-sites, other digital mediums.

Masterstrokes Advertising acquires Union Advertising * Masterstrokes Advertising Ltd has today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Union Advertising.

The acquisition would strengthens Masterstrokes Advertising in the segment as it aims to redefine the advertising industry with its creative and innovative ideas, the firm said in a statement.

With the completed acquisition, Union will be part of Masterstrokes family. Union Advertising will serve both Masterstrokes and Union clients, it added.

* Sony India has launched wireless headphones line-up MDR-XB650BT, priced at Rs 7,990.

The headphones has aesthetic design and is available in three colours - black, blue and red. It is available in the market from March 7.

CG wins USD 35 million order from PT PLN (Persero) Indonesia * Avantha Group Company CG has won USD 35 million (approx Rs 236 crore) order from Indonaesia's PT PLN (Persero) to manufacture and install power transformers.

"Avantha Group Company CG has won a significant order of USD 35 million (INR 236 crore approx) from PT PLN (Persero), the state-owned electricity company of Indonesia, to manufacture and install 28 power transformers ranging from 83.3 MVA to 167 MVA and rated voltage 500 kV/150 kV," the company said in a statement.

The power transformers will be installed across PT PLN's transmission network, spread over multiple substations and power plants in the Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan provinces of Indonesia, it said.
PressPlay Tv to launch app for iOS and desktop PC

* Mobile video application PressPlay TV today said that it will soon launch its version for Apple's iOS and a browser for desktop PC as well as expand content on its platform.

"The Android, iOS apps along with the desktop browser will give us unparalleled reach amongst the target audience. With Desktop browser we will reach out to the PC & laptops users further expanding our penetration," PressPlay TV Co-founder and CEO Anand Sinha said in a statement.

PressPlayTV has tied up railways and some bus services to offer it on-demand video app over free wifi in the railway coaches and buses, the statement said.

Wealthy.In raises Rs 1.6 crore from angel investors * Financial advisory firm Wealthy.In today said that it secured Rs 1.6 crore from some of the India's most prominent angel investors.

The investors include Zishaan Hayath of Toppr, Abhishek Goyal of Tracxn Labs, Arjun and Rohan Malhotra of Investopad, Harpreet Singh Grover of CoCubes and Gagan Dugal of Matrix Cellular, the company said in a statement.

Sundaram Infotech bags multi-year IT contract from US Firm * Sundaram Infotech Solutions has bagged a multi-year onsite cum offshore IT contract from a US Firm that specialises in environment management solutions for the US Federal Government as well Corporates.

'Sundaram Infotech was chosen ahead of stiff competition from both domestic IT companies as well as US firms," Sundaram Infotech CEO Deepa Ramesh said in a statement.

As part of the transaction, Sundaram Infotech will design and develop a high level vertical software solution for the US firm using Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP platform. From its offshore facility in Chennai, Sundaram Infotech will carry out work relating to the development of the modules while consultancy work will be undertaken onsite in the US.
