Delhi Metro is expected to complete the Jahangirpuri to Samaypur Badli corridor, extension of line two, by the year end and open it for public by March next year.
About 10 to 25 per cent work is left to be completed at the three Metro stations, Badli Mor, Rohini Sector 18 and Samaypur Badli, on the 4.3 km long corridor that will draw commuters from Jahangirpuri, GT Karnal road, Rohini, Transport Nagar and Badli in northwest Delhi.
According to DMRC officials, ten per cent work is to be completed on Rohini Sector-18 and Badli Mor stations while nearly 70-75 per cent work is over at Samaypur Badli station and in the overall viaduct construction in the corridor.
The construction work is expected to be completed by the end of this year, a DMRC spokesperson said, adding that the scheduled opening of this line is in March 2015.
The elevated viaduct on this corridor crosses the Northern Railway (NR) tracks of Delhi-Ambala route between Adarsh Nagar and Badli stations, for which DMRC will go over the Railway tracks by providing a 45 meter span steel bridge on both the lines.
The bottom level of this steel bridge will be more than 12 metres above the existing railway track level, and permission from Railways is awaited to launch the steel girder bridges.
The ridership on this route in 2016 as per DPR is expected to be around 7,186 at Badli, 11,133 at Rohini Sector-18 and 10,262 at Samaypur Badli.
