Work on Thiruvarur-Karaikudi gauge conversion in TN soon: Roy

Raja, who raised the matter in Rajya Sabha today, met Railway Minister Mukul Roy who directed the Railway Board to urgently study the matter so that a decision could be taken in an expeditious manner.

Earlier during Zero Hour, Raja said the matter assumed importance as people in Nagapattinam district have planned a protest on the issue tomorrow and demanded that the gauge conversion work be undertaken forthwith.

He said the rail line passed through various historic sites, including those connected with the freedom movement.
