Work redistributed among CBDT members

A change in work allocation has been effected in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex authority of the Income Tax department, with new member P S Behuria assigned the crucial task of revenue collection.

A 1977-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, Behuria joined the board recently after the retirement of S S Rana.

Chairperson of the seven-member board Poonam Kishore Saxena will look after tax collection of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, while senior IRS officer Deepa Krishan will look after the charge of Personnel and Vigilance including tax collection of Mumbai region.

Senior I-T official Anita Kapur will look after the audit and judicial work of the tax department along with revenue collection work of states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
 

Sudha Sharma will look after legislation and computerisation along with revenue collection of northern states while there is no change in the charges of the two male members of the board K V Chowdary (Investigations) and R K Tewari (IT).

Tewari will also look after tax collection work of south Indian states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
