Representatives of workers of Manabari Tea estate in Mal block of Jalpaiguri district sat on indefinite fast for past one week demanding the plantation be opened immediately.
All the major trade unions in the sector - including INTUC, CITU, UTUC - were supporting the fasting workers who were in dire straits since the closure of the tea estate just before Durga Puja.
The tea estate employed 750 workers.
