Prashantt, who was an admirer of director Madhvani's work ever since he saw a documentary made by him on megastar Amitabh Bachchan, jumped at the opportunity to star in the film.
"'Neerja' happened after I came across an article about director Ram Madhvani, who had selected this story to make a film. It seemed fascinating to me because it had something to do with Pan Am Airlines, which was my chosen and favourite airline growing up in America in the 80s and 90s.
"I was fortunate that Ram sir was cordial of my interest in working with him and offered me the opportunity to audition for a pivotal role, which I eventually bagged."
The actor, who was seen in "Identity Card" and horror "6-5=2", hopes the Sonam Kapoor-starrer, scheduled to release next year, will open many doors for him.
"From 'Neerja', I expect and hope to progress a few notches upwards in the direction. As this would probably be my biggest release until now, I am hoping, more than anything, that it leads to credible recognition."
Prashantt will be next seen in "19th January" with Deepti Naval and "Irada" along with actor Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi.
