'WAO International Scientific Conference 2012' provides a forum for a wide range of healthcare professionals who treat patients with asthma and allergic diseases. The experts include allergists, pulmonologists, ENT specialists, dermatologists, pediatricians and gastroenterologists, the organisers said.
To be held under the patronage of the Union Health Ministry, the event, which is ending on December 9, is expected to gather nearly 1,500 delegates.
A release from WAO said the incidence of allergic diseases and asthma is escalating to epidemic proportions, and up to 30-40 per cent of the world's population is now affected by some form of allergy. World Health Organisation estimates that 300 million individuals have asthma worldwide.
