World Bank funded study on Gujarat coral restoration

"We will undertake the study on the coral reefs in the Gulf of Khambhat in Gujarat. The reefs were earlier found to be destroyed by some private companies. The programme will be on the restoration of the coral reefs. The study is being funded by the World Bank and it would commence this month," ZSI Director K Venkataraman said.

The Rs 2.8 crore project was funded by the World Bank, Venkataraman, who was here earlier this week to attend a function, said.

Experts of the ZSI would inspect and examine coastal surface of one sq km and study their status, he said.
