World Bank's South Asia VP takes stock of projects

Vice President for the World Bank's South Asia Region, Philippe Le Houerou, today took stock of the ongoing World Bank-sponsored projects at various parts of Amritsar.

During his visit, Houerou was accompanied by deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal, Amritsar municipal corporation commissioner DPS Kharbanda and other officials of the district administration.

He visited Amritsar south constituency and Nizampur in Jandiala constituency to take stock of a World Bank-sponsored project worth Rs 1,280 crore to provide water supply and sewerage connectivity to the residents, a district administration official said.

The VP is on a two-day visit to Amritsar.

He had crossed over to India through Attari Wagah land route from Pakistan last evening.
