World Bank satisfied with reconstruction work in Uttarakhand

World Bank Country Director Onno Ruhl today expressed satisfaction at the reconstruction work under way in the flood hit areas of Uttarakhand and advised the state government to prepare a solid roadmap to combat future disasters.

Ruhl, who called on Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar at the secretariat here, assured the state government of all help from the World Bank and advised it to strengthen the Disaster Management mechanism on the lines of Odisha model to tackle future calamities, an official release said.

Assuring of the World Bank's full support to all rehabilitation work being carried out in the state, he said that international experts for weather and construction work in hilly areas will soon visit Uttarakhand.
 

He also gave assurance that International Rotary Club will repair damaged school buildings in Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag.

The World Bank will also provide assistance wherever required, he said.
