World Bridge Federation President visits Goa

World Bridge Federation President Gianarrigo Rona of Italy arrived here today for a three-day visit to Goa.

According to Bridge Federation of India Vice-President P Kenny the main purpose of Rona's visit was to get first hand information about various infrastructure and other facilities available here for hosting a Bridge World Championship.

Goa has been shortlisted as possible venue for World Championship of Bridge in the coming years.

Suresh Kamath of Goa Bridge Federation said If awarded the World Championships, Goa would rise to the occasion.

Rona, who came here after attending the concluding function of Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) Championships at Ahmedabad, said he was impressed by the enthusiasm of the card game in India.
 

Rona, who is being accompanied by Bridge Federation of India President N R K Moorthy and other BFI officials, is also scheduled to meet Chief Minister of Goa on Friday.
