Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the Narendra Modi government has relegated the rich legacy of former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to the backdrop, while African leaders heaped praises on them at the India Africa Forum Summit 2015.
In a statement, Gogoi said the African leaders sang paeans on Nehru and Gandhi in front of Modi yesterday fondly remembering their contribution in building India's relations with their countries.
Modi has "insulted" the legacy of Nehru and Indira through some recent "outrageous actions", he asserted.

"The two great visionary leaders created the base of strong solidarity between African member states and India on which the Modi government is treading upon today.
"Instead of giving them the recognition they so richly deserve, it chooses to ignore them through some recent outrageous acts," Gogoi alleged.
"Prime Minister Modi's actions in belittling the contributions of the two great leaders have only helped to demean his so-called stature of a visionary leader before the rest of the world," he added.
