As a part of celebrations of World Tourism Day, the Kolkata branch of Indiatourism initiated a tour of 100 children (mostly orphans) to the coastal destination of Mandarmani and a tour of 50 senior citizens to Tarapith via Mayapur.
The tour was organised by the Association of Tourism Service Providers of Bengal along with Indiatourism.
All museums including Victoria Memorial, Indian Museum, Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Gurusaday Museum etc were requested by Indiatourism to allow free entry of visitors today to mark the occasion.

J P Shaw, Regional Director of Indiatourism, Kolkata said tourism activities in the area has been on the rise presently.
A total of 14,89,500 foreign tourists arrived in India during 2015-16.
All approved hotels in Eastern Region have been requested to give special discount and offer welcome drink to the tourists arriving today to mark the occasion, he added.
