Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said he would have stepped down from his office had he been in the place of leader of Opposition and Indian National Lok Dal chief Om Prakash Chautala, who has been convicted in teachers' recruitment scam.
"Moral standards are decided by an individual. Morality is something you decide yourself. A leader like Lal Bahadur Shastri had resigned when there was a rail accident...If I was leader of the Opposition and was convicted by a court of law, may be I would have resigned," Hooda told reporters here on the sidelines of the ongoing budget session of the state assembly.
Hooda was reacting to the ruckus created by INLD members in the House today who refused to allow Congress MLA Sampat Singh's adjournment motion calling for a discussion on the conviction of former chief minister Chautala in the Junior Basic Teachers' recruitment scam.

Hooda further said that by creating a disturbance in the House, INLD legislators have shown that they would not like to participate in any discussion on the said adjournment motion regarding the issue of uprightness in public life.
