WR revenue up by 10% to Rs 10,500 cr in Apr-Dec period of FY14

Western Railway today said it logged a 10.3 per cent growth in net originating earnings at Rs 10,500 crore in April-December period of FY14 over the same period last fiscal.

The zone also achieved a record growth in freight traffic during the period, Western Railway General Manager Hemant Kumar said in a release here.

Originating freight earnings of the western Railway rose 9 per cent to Rs 7,143 crore in the first three quars of the current fiscal over the April-Decembet period of FY13, the release said.

"We also logged s record loading of freight at 54.4 million tonnes during the three quarters of this financial year," Kumar said.
 

Kumar said that out of the 12 escalators sanctioned for the WR so far, 8 have been commissioned and the work on the remaining ones will be completed shortly.
