A wrestler, who was a sarpanch candidate for the upcoming panchayat polls, has been murdered allegedly due to political rivalry at Panchi Jatan village in this district, police said here today.
The victim Sajjan Pal was returning home after canvassing for votes late last night when incumbent sarpanch Surendra Khattri and his accomplices shot him dead, police said.
Acting on the complaint of victim's family, police have registered a case against six named people including Surendra, his two sons, and three others, DSP Satish Sharma said.
Pal's body has been sent for post-mortem and the matter is being investigated, the DSP said.
