Writers, poets rue Pb CM's absence at auditorium inauguration

Many litterateurs, writters and poets were left disappointed after Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal failed to turn up at the inauguration of an auditorium here constructed in the memory of Punjabi Poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi after a span of 35 years.

The Chief Minister was apparently in the industrial city to inaugurate the auditorium and came in aspecial chopper but did not turn up at the venue.

After reaching Batala he went to the office of former MLA Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal where he addressed the party workers and left for Skhwan village.

Padamshree awardees poet Sujit Pattar and Wadali brothers as well as renowned novelist and playwriter Kewl Dhaliwal were amongthe literary giantsinvited for the inauguration. They, however, expressed disappointment when the Chief Minister did not arrive at the venue.
 

The Shiv Kumar Batalviauditorium was constructed after a long span of 35 years, whose foundation was laid in 1985 by then Governor Aminu din Ahmad.

In the absence of Badal, former education minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan and former MLA Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal inaugurated the auditorium.
