Jammu and Kashmir government today said it has made a written test mandatory for candidates who apply for the post of teachers in the public schools.
"We cannot afford to play with the lives of our children. This move will ensure that only quality human resource makes its way into the education department," Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said during his visit to Degree College Sopore in Baramulla district.
Akhtar said a big fraud was played on the people of Jammu and Kashmir through government-run schools where "square pegs are used to fill round holes".
