Chinese President Xi Jinping has called the military, which is on a massive modernisation drive, to innovate more to match with the "new military revolution" being witnessed around the world.

"The world's new military revolution has come at the same time as opportunities and challenges for China and we must develop foresight and insight into these development," Xi said, presiding over a meeting of the Political Bureau of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC).

Xi asked all party members to be more aware of military issues, defence and military building and military preparedness, and to give more support to the country's national defence and military reforms, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Regarded as the most powerful Chinese leader in recent times, Xi heads Presidency, Party and the military since he took over power last year.

Chinese military is currently on a massive modernisation drive.

China has allotted over USD 132 billion for the defence, over three times more than the Indian defence budget.

Currently, Chinese military also embarked on massive military exercises with live firing drills involving for the first time rival teams with country specific strategies.
