XLRI confers Sir Jehangir Medal on SBI Chairperson Arundhati

XLRI School of Management today conferred the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and Industrial Peace on Arundhati Bhattacharya, the first woman chairperson of country's largest lender SBI.

At its 58th annual convocation here, Bhattacharya received the medal from H M Nerurkar, Chairman of XLRI Board of Governors and former Managing Director of Tata Steel, in presence of Fr. E Abraham S.J., Director of XLRI and other dignitaries.

In her address as Chief Guest on the occasion, Bhattacharya congratulated the students and shared some of her experiences on common challenges which they can face in their future lives as employees.
 

Calling upon the future managers of the country, Bhattacharya emphasized the need to set priorities right and strike a chord between the workplace and personal life.

"Whatever you have learnt about the management in the institution though academic pursuit was only a tip of an iceberg as learning is a an endless and continuous journey of life," she said.

Earlier, after two years of rigorous schedules, the batch of 2014, comprising 245 students of Post Graduate Programmes in Management, 5 students of Fellow Program in Management from Jamshedpur Campus and 35 students from Executive PGP course from Dubai Campus, received their graduating certificates and medals.

119 students of 2013 batch of 15-months PGDM (General Management) Programme also received their graduating certificates and medals.
