Yagnas seeking Jaya's return as CM mark her "star" birthday

A variety of prayers by party workers and ministers including yagnas seeking a long life and "return" as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu marked the "star" birthday of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today across the State.

Jayalalithaa's birthday according to the Gregorian calendar is on February 24 and she turned 67 this year. Born in "Magam" (Magha nakshatra) star in the Tamil month of Masi, her birthday falls today.

Maha Rudra Yagna, Chandi Yagna, Sudarsana Yagna, Saha Chandhi Yagna, several "Homams," Gho Pujas (Cow worship), spiritual processions carrying milk pots, pulling golden chariots of deities, were among the variety of special prayers offered by AIADMK workers at temples in the State.
 

P Thangamani, Gokula Indira, Sundararaj, B Valarmathi, KC Veeramani, Sellur K Raju and Agri SS Krishnamurthy were among the Ministers who participated in special prayers seeking a long life and "return as chief minister" of the State in different locations in Tamil Nadu.

The 67th birthday of Jayalalithaa is being celebrated by the AIADMK beginning February 24 till today across the State.

Marking her birthday, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam presided over a mass marriage function at Theni when 52 men tied the knot on March 2.

Besides a host of spiritual events in places of worship, welfare assistance was also distributed to the indigent.
