Yamaha Motor Co has appointed Yasuo Ishihara as President of Yamaha Motor Research and Development India (YMRI) with effect from March 15.

Prior to this position, Ishihara served as the Group Manager at Yamaha Motor Co (YMC) handling promotion of Value Engineering, Project Management of Procurement Centre and Management of Component Development.

Ishihara said: "Every role brought in the prospect to learn and contribute over the 29 years of my association with Yamaha. However, this is the most exciting and challenging role for me so far and I am overwhelmed at this opportunity".

Ishihara has taken over responsibility from Managing Director Toshikazu Kobayashi to head YMRI.

In February 2013, the company established YMRI at Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh to function as the second integrated development center, following the establishment of the ASEAN Integrated Development Center in Thailand.
