YatraGenia to invest Rs 50 cr on Karnataka expansion

Bus ticketing and cab booking platform YatraGenie Services today said it will be investing Rs 50 crore for expansion in Karnataka.

YatraGenie, which has presence in 40 cities across South India, has now expanded its services to Hassan, Mangaluru, Manipal, Udupi and other cities in Dakshina Kannada district, the company said in a release.

It said, as part of the expansion plan, Yatragenie will hire 500 cab drivers under the Driver-Cum-Owner model launched by the company in association with Maruti Suzuki.

The company will also hire 25 executives to set up a call center in Mangalore, it added.

In the coming months, YatraGenie aims to launch its services in 17 district headquarters in Karnataka, the company said, adding that by 2015-end, it plans to expand to 100 cities, thus making it the fastest growing company in the industry.
 

YatraGenie has raised Series A funding from Ash Bhardwaj, a well known entrepreneur and investor from Silicon valley.

The funds raised are being used towards expansion in Karnataka and to increase market base in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the release said.
