CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury today attacked the Centre and the TDP government over the pending special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
"Promises like the special category status for AP, a special package for backward areas and setting up a steel factory in Kadapa are not fulfilled yet," Yechury said addressing a public meeting here.
He appealed to people to fight unitedly for the special status promised by the Centre at the time of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2014.

He also criticised incumbent Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the issue.
During his address, Yechury attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his "promise of generating two crore jobs" and criticised GST rollout and demonetisation.
"Chandrababu Naidu successfully grabbed fertile lands of farmers and has failed to pursue the assurances given by the Centre to state," Yechury said, alleging that both state and Union governments are filled with "scam masters".
