Security officials in Yemen say a US drone strike has killed three suspected al-Qaida militants.

The officials say the strike targeted the suspected militants as they drove along the road in Wadi Adida in Marib province today. Officials say explosions rocked the area after the strike, suggesting the vehicle carried weapons or ammunition.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to journalists.

Al-Qaida in the Arabic Peninsula, the group's local branch, is considered by the US to be the world's most dangerous arm of the group. The US routinely targets suspected militants from the group in drone strikes.
