A Yemeni student was today nabbed on the charge of selling Khat leaves (a narcotic), with the seizure of 81 bundles of the contraband from his possession, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Commissioner's Task Force (South Zone) raided an apartment in Asif Nagar and arrested Emad Saif Mohammed, who allegedly procured the leaves from Yemen and Ethiopia through a Mumbai-based supplier named Javed and sold them to foreigners here.

Emad came to India on a student visa in 2010 and was pursuing MBA at a college in Masabtank here.

According to the police, the leaves were smuggled as a vegetable in air cargo.
