Young Mizo Association (YMA) day was observed across Mizoram and other places outside the state today with the state government declaring the day as a public holiday.

YMA members were engaged in cleaning their respective villages and localities since morning while in some villages the day was observed by planting trees by YMA members.

Many YMA branches donated blood in the hospitals to mark the day while some branches donated food and money to Hospitals, orphanage and addiction centres.

YMA was formed on this day in 1935 by the then Welsh missionaries and Mizo leaders for organising the Mizo youths to undertake good social works and became the largest and most prominent society-based organisation of the Mizos.
