The central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) today said that it was opposed to
Observation of Good Governance Day on December 25 in Mizoram on Christmas Day.
"We want the state government to prepone or postpone the observation of the Good Governance Day," the YMA said.
The YMA, in a press statement today said, the centre should respect religious sentiments of the people of the Christian dominated Mizoram and should not force people of the state to observe Good Governance Day on December 25, since many government employees will not be able to celebrate Christmas as a result.
The Mizo youth body also urged the state government not to observe Christmas Day as Good Governance Day and expressed its readiness to submit a memorandum to the centre regarding this.
