In a first of its kind initiative in the country, Delhi police today launched a web-based application through which a person can report loss of any document/article online or through a smartphone App.

Talking about the "revolutionary" step, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said "today Delhi Police has taken an effective step for the people of Delhi which is the first of its kind undertaken by any police force in India."

Elaborating on the new project, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said "the App, named 'Delhi Police Lost Report' is currently available on Android platform and can be downloaded from 'Google Play Store'. It will soon be available on other platforms and people would be able to download it from 'Windows App store' and 'Apple app store'."

People can report the loss of anything like a mobile phone or documents like passport through this App or they could also log in the Delhi Police's website to report things lost in Delhi, he said.

"People will be provided a digitally signed 'lost report' instantly which would greatly reduce public inconvenience," said Bassi.

The App was launched by Shinde in the presence of Minister of State (Home) R P N Singh, Delhi LT Governor Najeeb Jung and Bassi at Talkatora stadium in the presence a large number of police personnel.
