A young businessman, who allegedly committed suicide at his residence here, has left behind a note blaming a police sub-inspector, and two others, for pushing him into taking the extreme step.

Ravish Bansal, who was in his thirties, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room by family members this morning, Circle Officer (Khatima), S Pangti, said.

A suicide note recovered from the scene states that Bansal was ending his life due to harassment by Khatima Bazar police chowki in-charge Sub-Inspector Prahlad Singh Bisht, whom he has alleged was trying to extort money from him.

The note also mentions a man known to be a tantrik, one Mukhtar Miyan from Sitarganj, and his son Hanif.

The suicide triggered tension in the area with Bansal's wife sitting on a dharna with the body of her husband outside the Kotwali police station, demanding action against those named in the suicide note.

Pangti said a case had been registered and a probe was on into the matter.

However, he added that on the basis of the complaint lodged by Bansal's wife, SI Bisht had been transferred from the chowki and attached to the district police headquarters.
