A 26-year-old Tamil Nadu Armed Reserve Police constable, who was on leave for the past one month, today allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a speeding train, police said.

The victim identified as G Raghuvaran was unmarried and had been on leave for the last one month. He did not join duty even after the leave period ended, they said.

He had left his home this morning, telling his family members that he was going to meet his superior officers.

However, Raghuvaran went to Vazhuthur village, around 25 kms away from here, stopped his two-wheeler at a railway level crossing gate and leaped in front of a speeding train.

Railway police has initiated an investigation and reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
