A 29-year old man died today due to suspected excessive alcohol consumption near here, police said.
Kulandaivel, an unemployed and habitual drinker, had come home fully drunk last night and collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital by his mother last night itself.
A resident of Slaterpuram in Perundurai, about 20 km from here, he died this morning without responding to treatment, police said.
Quoting the doctors, they said consumption of excessive quantity of liquor was suspected to be the cause of the death.
A case had been registered and investigations were on.
