A 26-year-old youth was electrocuted to death in Central Delhi's Turkman Gate area when he took shelter under a shed during rain here this afternoon and touched a wall of a printing press which was electrified due to a short circuit in the wiring.

The incident took place at around 4 PM when the deceased, identified as Shehzad, was returning home after a workout at a gym.

As it started raining, Shehzad took shelter under a shed adjacent to the wall of the printing press. As he leaned on the wall, he got electrocuted and started trembling. Rehman, a friend of Shehzad who was behind him, tried to save him but he too got the electric shock. Someone used a dry wooden stick to pull them away from the wall, said a police official.

Shehzad was taken to LNJP hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A police team, which investigated the spot, found that the current has leaked into the wet wall through one of the circuit boxes of the building.

Police have registered a case of negligence although no one has been arrested so far.
