Indian shuttlers might have done well in the last couple years, but national coach Pullela Gopichand feels the youngsters need to be more consistent.

"Indian players have done well in the last couple of years but they need to be more consistent with the results. They need to stabilise more. They are young and will take some time to adjust to the top level," Gopichand said on the eve of the India Open Super Series tournament here.

"A lot of players have beaten top-10. They will improve with time. They need more exposure," he added.

The coach added that while his wards are getting better but the level of competition world wide is also increasing.

"The game is becoming very competitive. Even as our players are improving, it is becoming very challenging as shuttlers from other parts of the world are also getting better. So all we can do is try and support them as much as we can," said Gopichand.

Asked about an inconsistent P V Sindhu, who had recently beaten former World No.1 Shixian Wang of China at the Badminton Asia Championships in Taipei last week, only to lose in the next round, Gopichand said, "A lot of work still needs to be done on her.

"She is also feeling the pressure. She is 17 and is still gaining height, so one she stops the work has to done on developing her strength. So, I think Sindhu will need two more years," elaborated Gopichand.
